Lattice Boom Crawler Crane
When operating a construction crane, safety and precise control are top priorities. The operator is often lifting and moving large loads with obstructed views of the worksite, especially where the load is to be placed. Due to close proximity to the moving load, the safety of on-site workers is a critical concern.
GS Global Resources (GSGR) greatly improved the performance and safety of their Lattice Boom Crawler Cranes by integrating a closed-loop electro-hydraulic control system. The closed-loop system designed and engineered by GSGR provides the crane with a separate hydraulic circuit to power each crane function, resulting in a truly independent, variable-speed operation of the swing, load hoist, boom hoist and travel functions. GSGR also implemented sensors onto the winch drum which provides a signal to a custom joystick also designed and engineered by GSGR. This “thumper” joystick gives the operator tactile and audible feedback as to how fast the load is being lifted or lowered. The result is a very accurate and safe control of the load.
