Refuse Side Loader Truck

This side-loading garbage truck uses an automated arm to empty trash containers into the truck. The design allows for efficient loading up to 5,000 times each day, and greatly improved speed of operation compared to previous methods of trash collection. The automated design has resulted in a significant reduction in worker injuries, and efficiency increases for the municipalities that employ this technology.

GS Global Resources (GSGR) lead the design and development of the total machine control system. The cab configuration, with operator ergonomics as a primary concern, was greatly improved by using CAN switch panels and dual axis joysticks with multiple switch configurations for different truck options. In order to maintain accurate position of the container, cylinder position is determined with rugged, linear sensors. I/O modules provide electro-hydraulic proportional control of the arm movements.
