Forwarder and Loader
The forwarder and loader transports the timber across rough forest terrain to the processing site near the forest road. Efficient hauling of the timber results in greater productivity. This speed and efficiency must be maximized without sacrificing the longevity of the components, and maintaining engine horsepower efficiency. The initial machine design used all hydraulic controls to move the boom. This configuration added significant complexity to the machine since hydraulic lines had to be routed into the cab while the operator chair can rotate 180 degrees.
GS Global Resources (GSGR) improved performance by implementing a total machine control solution with the most advanced electronic and hydraulic systems available. The hydrostatic transmission is the heart of the propel function, which is seamlessly shifted using a well tuned master controller. Engine horsepower is now monitored via J1939 CAN communication and controlled with the master controller, resulting in improved fuel efficiency. Costly and cumbersome hydraulic hoses and rotational devices have been eliminated from the cab. The electro-hydraulic controls from GSGR result in improved proportional control of the loader functions. All electrical power distribution is handled by a unique load distribution panel. For a multi-function machine such as this, a programmable cab provides the machine manufacturer with assembly line flexibility to build many machine configurations with ease.
